On the occasion of the ‘Ask Hemilios about Hemophilia’ campaign launch, Roche Hellas organised a press conference on 9 December 2019 to present the campaign goals and actions to the press. Hemilios’s ‘friend’ and Ambassador of the campaign, Giannis Drymonakos, European swimming champion, honoured the event with his presence. Among other things, he stated that “I personally believe that it’s not the medals that make the champion. It’s the way he faces life. Hemilios faces life with haemophilia with optimism, courage, and determination. He reminds us of all the things that really matter in life, such as family and friends.”
During the press conference, the attendees were informed on haemophilia by Eleni Platokouki, Director of the Bleeding Disorders Unit and the Haemophilia Center for Children and Adolescents of the Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital, while the patients’ point of view was presented by Alexis Perdikis, General Secretary of the Greek Haemophilia Society (GHS). Additionally, through the presentation of the website www.abouthaemophilia.com, they had the opportunity to better understand the life of people with Haemophilia and their needs, as well as the ways to help them deal with the disease more effectively. Nevertheless, all agreed that Hemilios himself, a real-life mascot and main hero of the campaign, was the real star of the show and excited everyone with his enthusiasm for the implementation of this important initiative!
