My adventures

Haemophilia does not prevent me from engaging in many activities! I go to school, make new friends, learning how to play the flute, swim, and even design my own comic book stories! And if at some point I get injured,

I know that my parents and friends will keep me company, to make the time I will need to stay at home joyful! Here you can read all my adventures. My friends and I will be the best company!

LE'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER!

Hemilios is a happy 10-year-old boy with haemophilia. His new classmate Lila, who recently moved to his neighborhood and is sad. Hemilios makes her feel better and this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

GETTING OVER AN INJURY

Hemilios injured on his knee and needs to stay home for a few days. His parents and friends help him overcome his injury and return to school, where Lila has prepared a big surprise for him!
SPORTS ARE FUN
During Christmas holidays, Hemilios and Lila spend unforgettable moments trying out a range of different sports that are both fun and safe for Hemilios who has haemophilia!
A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE
Hemilios is about to compete in the swimming finals and is happy to find out that he is going to practice with the European swimming champion, Yannis Drimonakos! During those two days, Hemilios will prove to everyone that the word “champion” has nothing to do with the number of medals someone has earned, but with their positive approach to life!

A PLEASANT TRIP... AT HOME!

Hemilios, his sister and Lila plan to spend a three-day trip exploring the nature around aunt Mary’s mountain cottage. Howewver, their plans change and they have to stay indoors. Then the 3 kids take the opportunity to organize a bunch of fun activities. In the end, they realize it’s nice to spend time at home!
BACK TO SCHOOL!
On the day before the new school year begins, Hemilios and Lila have gone to help their teacher with the preparations. There, they notice certain changes aiming to protect students against the coronavirus. In the following days, the two friends will help their classmates follow the new rules, reminding everyone that the older kids should help the younger ones!

STAYING IN SHAPE!

At the Haemophilia Centre, Hemilios meets his old friend Alexis. Alexis tells him that unless he loses some weight, he risks not only bleeding, but also missing a very important event! Hemilios and Lila help Alexis lose the weight by suggesting an exercising programme and ideas for a healthier diet.

LET’S LEARN ABOUT HEREDITY

What are genes? Why do children look like their parents? How is hαemophilia inherited? Together with Hemilios and Lila we learn about heredity and how it helps us better understand all living beings around us!
A TRIP ABROAD!
Hemilios prepares for his first trip abroad and learns how to self-infuse. He attends the World Haemophilia Youth Meeting in Malta and makes new friends from all over the world. At the end, he learns a valuable lesson: all the things that separate them are not as important as those that bind them!

ANNA’S EXTRAORDINARY WEEK

Anna, Hemilios’ little sister, gave the winning shot at the school socker game, but her joy was soon overshadowed by Hemilios’ injury. Now, he is the center of everybody’s attention, and she feels left out! But she soon learns that when we speak openly about our feelings to our parents and siblings, everything can be fixed!

A SPECIAL TREASURE HUNT

Hemilios and Lila are preparing to take part in a treasure hunt on their bikes. But when they learn that Mr Leonidas cannot participate, although he wants to because he has haemorrhagic arthritis, they are concerned and try to find a way to help him. Eventually they succeed and learn that when we love something very much, we can always find ways to enjoy it.
